The River Mill: A Hydro-Powered Success!
The River Mill has successfully harnessed the power of the river through an innovative hydro scheme, generating clean energy through the VETT turbine. This pioneering project, the first of its kind globally, not only supplies the pub with electricity but also exports surplus power to the grid.
Spearheaded by VerdERG, the scheme boasts impressive figures, including a net head of 1.2m, energy output of 70MWh, and a design flow of 3.5m³/s. Notably, the initiative has resulted in the reduction of 35 tons of carbon emissions annually, providing electricity for approximately 22 homes.
